Today while we might be driving in the rain, we could go four blocks and have it be sleet or snow. Mush, a slippery, slobbery mess that can be very difficult to maneuver or stop in time. So, be careful out there people. Psalm 42:7 & 8 (NIV) 7 Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me. 8 By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life.

Remember, if the ground is shiny, be careful or you will fall on your hiney. 2 Corinthians 9:7-11 (NIV) 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.” 10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

"I will stand in awe of you, Jesus. I will stand, in awe, of you. So let my words be true, Jesus I am so in love with you." Make this not just a song on the radio, but a song from your heart. Let your self fall in love with God. Mathew 16:24-26 (NKJV) 24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

It is not always easy to see God's plan for us, but through our faith, especially during troubling times, we can show His love abounds. Romans 1:16 & 17 (NIV) 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith."

Proverbs 3:3-6 (NIV) 3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

We cannot change the past, for then we would not have the tools needed, the words, to help those whom God puts in our paths today. John 14:15-17 (NIV) 15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. "

Well the Olympics are under way, people vying for medals made of gold, silver or bronze in the various sports activities. The Apostle Paul was a big proponent of the Olympics, though in his time, the races were run for sport, for fun, for food, not precious metal. My how times have changed, yet some how, staid the same. Today we face many of the same societal issues of Biblical time. 1 Corinthians 9:22-26 (NLT) 22 When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. 23 I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings. 24 Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! 25 All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 26 So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing.

Yes, another winter storm is on the horizon, one that could bring feet of snow, or inches of ice. Most people will run out and get batteries, groceries or other supplies in preparation for this storm. What about the storm that might hit next year? In five years, or 10 years down the road? Are we prepared for those? While God may allow us to go through them, He promises to grant us peace, comfort and love to help us through them. Mark 4:36-41 (NIV) 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” 39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” 41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

Love is not shown by the type of gift nor by any gift that can be purchased at a store or made with scrap paper. It is not something that should be shown for only one day. This world has put so much pressure on relationships by pushing expensive gift ideas onto those who truly just want to show they love some one. Love is made by a life time of doing for others, shown by every day acts, told by more than words. 2 Thessalonians 1:3-5 (NIV) 3 We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing. 4 Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring. 5 All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.

This message is brought to you by; Those who work for our power & road companies. Without you, life would be more challenging. Thank you for restoring my power, my prayers are with you for safety and ease of work. Remember in your prayers all those who need power to sustain life, for most of us, losing power is just an inconvenience. This was said to the people of Israel, but written for you, today. Exodus 14:13-14 (NKJV) 13 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

It may not look like it now, but spring is right around the bend. Sure, there will be some slow traffic along the way, maybe even a closed lane. But listen to the birds, their chirps tell the story, spring is near. Though I have to admit, hearing the beeps of the snow plows is almost more enjoyable, almost........ So what is just around the bend? Isaiah 65:23-25 (NIV) 23 They will not labor in vain, nor will they bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the Lord, they and their descendants with them. 24 Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. 25 The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, and dust will be the serpent’s food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain,” says the Lord.

Back in the 90's there was a movement amongst Christians to live by the saying; "What would Jesus do". The movement became a fad, and like most fads, faded. Why? Because people knew the answer and did not like it, they wanted to do things their way. Instead, just ask your self when you think about doing something or going some place, is it worth it? Maybe you will like that answer better......Jesus thought you were worth it.... 1 Peter 1:3-5 (NKJV) 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

There are 32 days and 3 hours (as of this writing) until the official start of Spring. With all the snow, we should have a great growing season! Chin up! Psalm 37:8-11 (NIV) 8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. 9 For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land. 10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. 11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.

Lamentaions 3:19-24 (NIV) 19 I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall. 20 I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me. 21 Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: 22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. 24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”

I don't know if it is global warming or global snoring, but this winter has been anything but boring. Hebrews 13:15 & 16 (NIV) 15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. 16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

As the daytime temperatures rise, the snow starts to melt. When the temperatures go down with the sun, re-freezing occurs. There just might be ice some place you least expect it. Colossians 1:19-23 (NIV) 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. 21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

We all could have been born at a different time, a day earlier, a decade later. However, God knew exactly when He wanted us here, because there are people alive today who will cross our path. Some will help us, others will need our help in any number of ways. Say hello to a stranger today, it might change both your lives. Jude 17-21 (NIV) 17 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. 18 They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” 19 These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. 20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

Day light savings time is right around the corner, (March 9) a time when we spring forward, but feel as though we went backward after losing an hour of sleep. While we cannot save up sleep time, we can store up treasures in Heaven by continuing to move forward on the path God has chosen for us. Mathew 6:19-21 (NIV) 19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Psalm 118:8 (NSE) It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. Acts 13:38 & 39 (NIV) 38 “Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. 39 Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses."

Are we building our Faith called a house on just words of sand or with action, a granite foundation? Luke 6:46-48 (NIV) 46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. "

Proverbs 25:11 & 12 (The Message) The right word at the right time is like a custom made piece of jewelry. A wise friend's timely reprimand is like a gold ring slipped on your finger. 2 Peter 1:1- 3 (NIV) Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours: 2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

We have winter so that we can enjoy the snow and when we get tired of the weather, we can appreciate spring all the more. We have spring as a rest from the winter, so see the splendor of new growth. When we long for warmer days, summer arrives and my how do most love summer. Even then, summer can drag on, so we have fall and all its beautiful colors. Just as we grow eary of all the others, long for the beauty of the snow and come full circle. Troubles help us appreciate the good times even more. Romans 6:8-11 (NKJV) 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Curiosity may have killed the cat, but it has fueled the desire of mankind to never stop asking questions, never stop looking for answers. In a quiet time, when we can be honest, maybe even before we go out for a night on the town, we should all ask our selves if this applies to us: Titus1:16 They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good. Titus 2: 6-8 (NIV) 6 Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. 7 In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness 8 and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.

We all make mistakes, things that happen without intent. From Breaking a glass to hurting some one with words, intent is what makes it an accident instead of a purpose. God wants everything we do for Him to be done on purpose with the intentions of showing His love for all. 2 Corinthians 5:6-9 (NIV) 6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.

We are not called to be the rain on some one's parade, rather the water for their garden. We are not to be a snare for their food, but the living words of God for them to be nourished, so that all may have life. Romans 2:5-7 (NIV) 5 But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. 6 God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”7 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.
