You still haven't replied to my post earlier that, since 1990, 71% of the congressmen who have been charged with sexual assaults or harassment were Republican. Seems more like a problem on the right.

That's because Party of the KKK won't charge their perverts. It's expected behavior from them. Party of the platform.

Let's be sensible about this issue; it isn't about Left or Right. Historically-- and in pretty much all cultures-- female flesh has been a commodity. Access to female flesh is (at least, has always been) a perk enjoyed by powerful men. In men's defense, power is said to be a powerful aphrodisiac to women. Men of wealth and/or fame are offered many opportunities to engage in consensual sexual dalliance-- quite often with much younger females who aren't mature enough to distinguish between attraction and becoming giddy in the presence of a charismatic male. Sometimes this goes to their heads. Let us remember that men drawn to careers in politics or the media already have large egos; these are not careers for shrinking violets.
Given the (historically unprecedented) rise of women to the status of genuine adult individuals (as opposed to "dependents"), a lot of women are saying, "Hell, no. I won't put up with that crap." Translation: "I am not a commodity."
This is going to be a difficult issue to resolve, mostly because people are complicated, and sexual attraction more than most aspects of personality. (Cats have it easier. The females come into heat and accept whichever Tom wins the fight.) Female humans signal receptivity in ways that are often unconscious. (Exposing the palm of the hand, touching one's hair, probably other ways that haven't been identified-- and that's without pheromones we don't even know we're smelling.) Men are going to get these signals, and probably act on them. Men are going to think they're getting these signals, and be mistaken. (Talking single men, here, looking for a "meaningful relationship", not married men looking to tomcat around, of course.)
Also, we have the "chivalry" problem. Putting a hand on a woman's back while ushering her through a held-open door is not "sexual harassment". Neither is the platonic hug greeting.
Let us remember, too, that memory isn't entirely reliable. A woman of a certain age may become convinced that the famous man who made her giggle when he touched her years ago had "taken advantage" of her. [Note to men of wealth and power: that 20-year-old "woman" ain't up to your weight.]
On the other hand, some of the stories coming out seem to be sadistic in nature, designed to make the female a victim more than a commodity. (I mean, who'd want to watch Harvey Weinstein masturbate? Worst Porn Movie Ever!)
As a female, I want to see the end of female flesh as commodity--although I'm old enough that it won't affect me anymore. However, it doesn't help that we live in a culture where hard-core porn is considered nothing more than "free speech" (and readily available on cable Tee-Vee), and otherwise sensible college girls flash their bare breasts at men at Mardi Gras.
And, not to get political, but... it doesn't help that we've elected a president who considers wives fungible-- easily replaced with a younger model when they get stretch marks from having babies.

You still haven't replied to my post earlier that, since 1990, 71% of the congressmen who have been charged with sexual assaults or harassment were Republican. Seems more like a problem on the right. Wikipedia has a list of federal political sex scandals here: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_federal_political_sex_scandals_in_the_United_StatesAll 7 of the scandals during the 1970s were Democrats. The 1980s went 7 Republicans to 6 Dems. The 1990s went 11 Republicans to 5 Democrats. The 2000s went 12 Republicans to 4 Democrats. The 2010s are currently 10Rs to 4 Ds. That totals 40Rs to 26Ds, or 61% Republican. But these scandals include extra-marital affairs and prostitutes, which don’t really amount to harrasment or assault. The harassment/assault/other criminal cases (for this purpose, I’m including charges of consensual affairs with staffers, and prostitution, but not consensual affairs outside the workplace, as this is neither harassment nor assault nor a crime) are: John Young, D-TX, 1976. Your 71% stat is clearlry garbage. Most likely the product of another partisan study, or a biased media hit-job. And if the GOP is conducting a “war on women” the Dems are too.

RJ, I'm not going to quote and repost your list and entire post. It's way too long.
I used the same article. I only look from 1990 on. Your numbers show 33 Republicans and 13 Democrats in that period, 66% Republican. I eliminated non-members of Congress from my list -- Clinton, Trump, Cain, some people in various agencies. My totals were 29 Republican, 14 Democrat, 67% Republican.
I see no reason to eliminate extra-marital affairs or prostitutes. They're still sexual scandals that involved political careets.
Reminds me of an article I read a little while back. I said that the "conservative family values" that the people in the red states crow about are actually more prevalent in the blue states. Over the last 27 years, congressional sex scandals have shown how true that is.

PAM, the reason you need to eliminate extra marital affairs and prostitutes when claiming 71% of congressional "sexual assaults and harassment charges" involve Republicans is that neither an extra marital affair, nor the hiring of a prostitute is a sexual assault or harrassment. One would have thought this obvious. It is to anyone not wearing extra-tight partisan blinders. It is also amusing that you decided to draw the line in 1990. Its like discussing shipping accidents, and drawing the line right after The Titanic. I'll also assume the article you read about red states and blue states was the hit-piece by Nick Kristof in the NYT a few days back. There's a thorough takedown of it at National Review here: www.nationalreview.com/article/454166/conservative-families-more-stable-liberal-families-nick-kristof-wrong

Part of the problem is that powerful or famous men have women basically throwing themselves at them wherever they go (I know - I was a rock star in an earlier life. I was nothing to write home about in the looks department, but you wouldn't believe the attractive girls I dated - can anyone say Lyle Lovett?). After a while, these men think that they are attractive to all women, and that they will all be as easy as those who willingly give themselves up.

They didn't want to impact their careers by accusing a powerful individual of criminal behavior, but are now willing to because they smell blood in the water.

So you’re going to repeat Thurmond multiple times and go all the way back to 1925, (when he was a Democrat?) Plus list several more that I included previously? Shall I post a list of prominent Democrat slave owners? Or, in order to keep to current events, perhaps we should try to stick with the living?
Or are you just as incapable of being honest as the press you love so much?

Remember, RJ, you're the one who chided me in an earlier post for starting at 1990 -- like talking about shipping after the Titanic, I believe you said. Here's a more complete and longer list.
The point is, both sides are culpable. You seem to deny that Republicans can do anything wrong, especially if they deny doing anything (like Moore and Trump), and therefore there's no need to even think about any sort of investigation.
One thing I did notice on this list is the number of children that were abused. That's reprehensible.
I'm gradually coming to think that persons involved in any sort of sexual offense should not be in public office. Period.

I'm gradually coming to think that persons involved in any sort of sexual offense should not be in public office. Period. I’m not the one who invented the term GOPPP. Nor have I asserted the GOP doesn’t have a problem. You on the other hand seem to take every accusation against liberals as a personal attack. And apparently consider liberals as pure as the wind-driven snow. You have yet to acknowledge Bill Clinton was a problem, or the reality that his wife couldn’t effectively attack Trump on the grounds that the accusations against Bill were FAR worse. And yes, I gave you grief over picking 1990, because it was obviously political cherry picking. All of the sex scandals in the 1970s were Democrats, and the 1980s ran even.

You really should learn to read and comprehend. If you did either, you'd know that I've said that Bill Clinton should have resigned. When will you admit that Trump should resign?

If Trump is ever credibly accused of rape, as Clinton was, he should resign. He-said-she-said claims of butt-grabbing are no where near “you should put some ice on that.” I’ve provided you with a list of the accusations against Trump. Which would you like him to resign over?

The ones where the victim told friends/family almost immediately, and Trump still denies everything. Most of them are like that. Of course, you read them differently, which I guess I should expect from a Trump apologist. In my opinion, they're all serious allegations, and Trump's refusal to even comment on them beyond denial only shows there's more there than he'll admit.

For one of them the family was standing right there. She claims Trump hugged her in greeting too long. So you’d like Trump to go, because someone claims a greeting embrace was too long? None of the accusations are credible. A couple of them are semi-serious. To you, they’re all serious. Apparently even the ones where witnesses say nothing happened. Oh, and whatever happened to the “one free grope” standard y’all were championing 20 years ago? I guess I can’t be surprised. The Trump derangement syndrome runs very deep in you.

I have no idea what the "one free grope" standard is. Never heard of it.
Yes, I'd like Trump to go. I think he's incompetent and totally unprepared for the job. I think he's doing more harm than good. I think he lies way too much. He tries to take credit for everything. I think he's an embarrassment.
However, I don't necessarily want him gone for these sexual offenses. I want them investigated. Then, if there's a basis, get rid of him.
Yea, I do think Trump is deranged. I just can't figure why you defend him so much. Does it have something to do with him being a white man who degrades women?
