Chinese state-run media revealed for the first time this week that Beijing’s nuclear submarines can attack American cities as a means to counterbalance U.S. nuclear deterrence in the Pacific. The article features 30 photos and graphics detailing, among other things, damage projections for Seattle and Los Angeles after being hit by Chinese nuclear warheads and the deadly radiation that would spread all the way to Chicago. China’s sub fleet is reportedly the world’s second-largest, with about 70 vessels. About 10 are nuclear-powered, and four or more of those are nuclear ballistic submarines capable of launching missiles. www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/oct/31/inside-china-nuclear-submarines-capable-of-widespr/

Does this mean we have to nuke China too? I guess it beats paying of the debt.

We have more than four boomers. And I'll bet Chinese subs make more noise than a busted chainsaw.

I would not bet on it yoda, And its the fast attacks that go after the Boomers Yes, I know. My point was that we can match or exceed them in floating nuclear capability. And I'll bet their attack subs aren't as quiet as ours, which would make it a little difficult for them to neutralize those boomers or get by SOSUS. I guess what we know of their capability is classified.

Just shows that China is the new threat, much like the old USSR was How true; with Chinese companies scooping up US debt as if there's no tomorrow. I guess that one could consider it payback, with Government Motors lobbing every Buick they can build onto Chinese highways. Sounds like the 2013 version of Mutually Assured Destruction to me!

The American corporations that have moved over there will just find other customers. They don't care about this country. That's why they moved the jobs over there in the first place. No regulations, they can pollute, they can abuse workers! Yippeee

Africa, South America, large parts of Asia are still quite undeveloped. US companies contract with Chinese manufacturers- they rarely, if ever, own anything outright- Chinese laws make that quite difficult. China's success is built on selling cheap labor to US market.

Just shows that China is the new threat, much like the old USSR was We have more to fear from their accountants then their submarines. Quite true. And they really don't want us to nuke them back.China's population is clustered rather closely to its coastlines- despite having over a billion people in it, much of the nation is sparsely populated-- meaning a few nukes would cause catastrophic casualties, far more than striking a few US cities.
