At least we were spared the obligatory angelic baby or graduation pictures. No, we weren't. I saw pictures of him in his cap and gown on CNN this evening. The cops say he was trying to get the officer's gun, but of course that's what they'd say. The witnesses say he had his hands up in surrender, but of course that's what they'd say. Investigate it and learn the facts. But if the guy thought the cops had made him for a robbery, it makes their version more credible. As for the looters? Evidently they have a lot of uncivilized people living in that town. Even if you believe there was some sort of miscarriage of justice, you don't take that out on some store owner who had nothing to do with it. People who do that are simply greedy opportunists looking to get something they want for free, or to make trouble.

I heard the same. Regardless the behavior of the looters cannot be excused. To me, the looters are a separate problem. Sure, they're using this incident as an excuse to act like animals, but understanding what happened at the shooting is more important. It has always seemed ridiculous to me that a police officer would gun down an 'unarmed black teen in cold blood' just because he thought he could get away with it... or because he was walking down the middle of the street... or whatever absurd reason the grievance mongers want to trot out. But, if Brown was fresh from a robbery, and thought he was about to be arrested for a felony, that could cause him react rather violently towards the police. This is compounded when you realize that the officer didn't have the slightest idea that Brown might have been involved in a robbery. For the officer, his guard was most likely down because he thought he was dealing with a jay-walker rather than a robber. The officer just wouldn't have expected Brown to dive into the patrol vehicle. The point though, is a lot of people have jumped to conclusions on this, and it's important to let the investigators do their thing before we assume anything. Walking down the middle of the street us an odd way to elude the police.

Then why did he steal a box of smokes from a convenience store? That's not behavior typically associated with those who wish to matriculate to institutions of higher learning.

I used to have a friend who would go into a store... pick up a transistor radio... put some batteries in it... turn it on... volume up... put it on his shoulder near his ear... and walk right out the front door... nobody ever stopped him... Of course by the description... you know this was a long time ago... but it worked then... it might work now... WC

Sort of like the ones you saw after Katrina carrying big screen televisions through waist-high water. Seemed rather pointless, because unless that television was gasoline-powered, there sure as hell wasn't any place to plug it in.

He probably wanted to go TO THE college to steal computers or something like that.

It could be that the uncivilized people in the town are actually the police force and this is in retaliation. Illegal choke holds over selling cigarettes causing death, now death over 'jaywalking'. I would expect the police to behave better but they are human after all.

The solution is to open up the streets to any type of activity that folk wish to pursue. And not fret about petty stuff such as theft and strongarming. Hell, most of the merchants are greedy minority capitalist anyway. That solution would enable some more commercial "deserts" such as developed in the 1960's. With a decent national health care system it wouldn't matter how many folk were injured in the streets; the hospitals would be busy and the police could spend all day on computer talk boards.

I guess depending on your agenda government employees can or cannot be trusted………... My post was that police are human, they make errors just like anyone else, the paper is full of people making errors in their lives.

It could be that the uncivilized people in the town are actually the police force and this is in retaliation. Then it is aimed poorly. The looted shop owners are not the police. No, the looters are not peaceful protestors. They are opportunists looking to amuse themselves with vandalism (which appears to be all some folks have) or opportunists.

I have no idea how it feels to be the disenfranchised, who knows how someone will behave when they feel that they have been treated that way. Is looting okay? Of course not, but neither is the systemic way that the minorities and poor treated in the country.

What a load of crap. Democrats treat blacks like adults we don't question who they vote for. You and your Republican pals are the one that always talking about them being on the Democrat plantation. You go on and on about how they are too dumb to know why they are Democrats. Admit it. Be honest for once in your life. Also in your post you twist someone else's words. That is just so annoying. Is a reason you're not allowed to paraphrase other people's words and change them.

So the question is why. I mean, the local PD didn't conduct the autopsy. Why assume the local medical examiner did it wrong? Unless of course, this is some sort of attempt to make the situation a whole lot worse.

Sharpton is an idiot, and this father had better have a discussion about life choices, and who his son hangs with if he wants him to live long enough to die of old age.

Eric Holder has no proper role in this matter.
Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are running their usual grift: they get people inflamed, and turn it into cash in various ways. Contemptible men.
