Just another attempt at a distraction so hopefully the populace doesn't understand how incompetent he really is. Right. He's isolating North Korea by getting other countries to go along with him. He has embarrassed The Puppet into silence by his handling of major disasters, he's gotten China to go along with sanctions against NK, he's gotten us to nearly a 3% GDP growth in less than a year, when The Puppet couldn't get over 2 in 8, he's rolling back The Puppet's Socialist regulations to allow the economy to grow even faster, and you think he's incompetent? If that's the yardstick, The Puppet is a microencephatic.

Or the fact that the President (again) showed that he doesn't always know what he's talking about?

President Dotard cares because of his petty long running feud with the NFL owners that wouldn't let him have a team. It's not about the flag or taxes. It's all about Trump's ego.

Or the fact that the President (again) showed that he doesn't always know what he's talking about? Obviously the latter. The media thrills at pointing out Trump’s mistakes. (It largely papered over Obama’s and Clinton’s) Which is all well and good when the mistakes are of critical importance to the country. When they’re a trivial matter like the NFL’s tax status, or Meliania’s shoes, or where Ivanka sat at the G-20, the media reveals themselves as group of petty-partisan havcks who are increasingly desperate to find anything they can to damage the president. In the process they destroy their own credibility.

Hey, RJ, a new word: havcks! (I know, it's a typo, but I couldn't resist!).
Trump constantly makes mistakes. He lies, he misspeaks. One site (I forget which one now, one of the fact checkers) has counted about 5 lies and misspeaks a day, but I might remember low. I seem to remember about 1,000 in just over 200 days, something like that.
So maybe the issue isn't whether something is trivial or not. Maybe it's the President's continued distortion and outright lies, generally to make himself look better (how many people at the swearing in?) or to try to divert attention from something he doesn't want people thinking about (what better way to get us to ignore Comey and Mueller than to rant about the NFL?).
I doubt that most members of the media is thrilled at pointing out Trump's mistakes. I think they'd rather not do that at all. However, there are so many that they don't have a lot of choice, do they?

However, there are so many that they don't have a lot of choice, do they? Sorry, PAM, but clearly the media revels in Trump’s gaffes. Obama had the same problem, but Obama lied about what Obamacare would accomplish and how it would affect people. This is something that directly impacts everyone in the country, and the media are STILL pretending it’s all just fine. Premiums are skyrocketing, plan choices are shrinking, and we couldn’t keep our doctors. Yet at the time, the press largely covered for him. The Democrats might have gotten Hillary elected if all Obama was wrong about was the NFL’s tax liability. This is how the media loses it’s credibility. We can’t afford a press with no credibility. No one will care when Trump says or does something that actually matters. We’re already to a point where no one believes the US press corps without triple checking political stories. And these fact-check outlets are a bad joke.

You sound like the Commie. You don't/can't trust the press. This is the first step in creating a totalitarian government, in placing all control in one person.
This is what Trump has claimed for 2 or so years now -- the "fake press" and "fake media" and "fake news." If he can set himself up as the only source of truth -- the media isn't, Congress never can get it's act together, the courts can't be trusted -- then he's the only voice people need to listen to.
It's happened before. Italy and Germany. And Bannon read the playbook

It's happened before. Italy and Germany. And Bannon read the playbook And you're in complete denial. The press talks to you and other leftists. You trust it completely. But, in fact, it is a giant echo chamber that no longer reaches a majority of the country which has an entirely different set of priorities. This thread is a great example. The press ignored and covered up Obama's lies about Obamacare, which impacts everyone. They're climbing up Trump's backside over his mis-statement about the NFL's tax stays, which impacts a few dozen people. Health insurance is a priority for most people. The NFL is just a way to spend Sunday afternoons in the fall. Yet here we are, obsessing over Trump's nearly meaningless error.

I think there's a lot more than just one error on Mr. Trump's part. How many lies in the last 10 or 11 months? And I'm not sure that "climbing up Trump's backside" is accurate either -- I think I've seen 1 or 2 articles at the most, not total coverage for hours on end or multi-page articles in the presss.
Or are you claiming that Trump speaks the truth pretty much always?

You've seen one or two articles about Trump's disconnect from the truth, but also state its a huge problem. Which is it? Second, your priorities seem to be incredibly screwed up. I don't think Trump is especially honest. But I also don't think his problems with facts involve facts that are meaningful for most people. Again, the NFL just doesn't impact people other than a bit of entertainmemt.

1,318 lies about trivia. The fact that the media tracks this down to such fine detail is discrediting for the media. Which only seems to care about the NFL, Harvey Weinstein, and what shoes Melania wears to disaster areas. In the mean time these are also the priorities of the left, including Weinsetin and Colin Kaepernick. We live in a country where multimillionaires like Kapernick, the Clintons, and Weinstein, who to all appearances is the creature Jabba the Hut is based on, whine about deplorables and how unfair life is for them.

So maybe Mr. Trump should devote more time and effort to the dutiess and responsibilities of his office rather than spending so much time on trivia. But I'm not sure a tax plan is something trivial, especially when no one is too sure just what the plan entails or what it will do. And I don't think Kaepernick is whining about how unfair life is to him. In fact, he's donating $1 mil to organizations working in oppressed communities.
