Carson has never been tested in the political arena. It's highly unrealistic to expect a novice to have even a puncher's chance at the Presidency.
Not to be contrary here, just need to react a bit to this topic!
I'm a bit frustrated in my later years (!) by all the American disparagement towards those who make an effort to engage the world on it's own terms.
Thomas Paine paid a cost! A man with NO record whatsoever of any education had the temerity to pontificate to a fledgling nation state and duel with some of the worlds notable philosophers. Not only here but in Europe! Can we imagine the ridicule! Such an ignorant rube!
Colonel Chamberlin of the 20th Maine went to war as a commander without a single day of military experience. Did a professor of rheteric at a liberal arts college receive his share of jokes about his fitness for this grave task!
Vargas Llosa risked everything in his attempt at serving Peru as President. Why? The cost was so great just to attempt to introduce liberal economics to South America.
I rest my case with Ross Perot. Another "joke". Another one "not fit for the job". I thought he changed America MORE than the candidate who won!
My conclusion, sadly is, that Americans with all their talk about "term limits" and their vitriol for "professional politicians" REALLY don't want an interested and successful person to participate. Our laws seem to indicate such, and the voting certainly record does.

Carson should just sit down and shut up, he is just embarrassing himself each and every time he opens his mouth. CARSON: It's not terribly surprising. Because if you read Saul Alinsky's book Rules For Radicals, it talks about the need to ridicule. It also talks about never having a real conversation with your adversary because that humanizes them, and your job is the demonize them. And therefore we see people coming out and saying about those who oppose Obamacare, for instance, that they want older people to die, that they want kids to be deprived of food. You know, all these things are just straight out of the text. And what's really interesting is, you know, Vladimir Lenin, one of the founders of socialism and communism, he said socialized medicine is the keystone of the arch to the socialist state. In other words, you've got to get the socialized medicine as the foundation because it gives you control of the people. Once you have control of them, you can do what you want. Earlier in the day on Sean Hannity's radio show, Carson used the same Lenin quote to attack the ACA. (The book The Social Transformation of American Medicine by Paul Starr notes that "The Library of Congress could not locate this quotation in Lenin's writings.") Carson has been criticized for his history of inflammatory rhetoric, leading to his having to step down as a commencement speaker at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. During a March 26 appearance on Fox News' Hannity, Carson answered a question by Sean Hannity about efforts to overturn bans on same-sex marriage, Carson replied: "No group, be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality, it doesn't matter what they are -- they don't get to change the definition." mediamatters.org/blog/2013/10/10/ben-carson-uses-his-first-official-fox-appearan/196383Ben Carson Says Obamacare Is 'Worst Thing' To Happen To America Since Slavery Tea Party favorite Dr. Ben Carson said the Obama administration's healthcare reform law is the worst thing to happen to the United States since slavery. Darwin specifically stated that his theory hung on the discovery of intermediate forms, and was sure that we would find them. More than a hundred years later we still haven’t found them. Even the earliest fossils don’t show such intermediates. Take the simple case of ape to human. It should be easy to find abundant fossil remains since, according to evolutionary theory, this is the most recent transition. If we can find so many fossils of dinosaurs, which are further back in the evolutionary scheme, we should have plenty of evidence of intermediates between apes and humans. But we don’t have them. We have very few supposed intermediates–like “Lucy,” based on fanciful reconstruction with a lot of filling in. Today we have people with significant congenital abnormalities whose skeletal remains would seem like a missing link. Carson made some very stupid remarks (condemning and ridiculing a group of people) and when he got called out for them he invokes a quote (that no one can find Lenin ever said) that has to do with being ridiculed. And yet you claim I am the one that doesn't understand "irony". LOL Sounds like his views were not the views of the JHH Medical Students and is why he was uninvited to speak at the JHH Medical Students Graduation.

Well I don't consider them "stupid", so that would be your opinion, and the opinion of lefties. It is not a surprise that he was "uninvited" because the left does not want to hear any opinion but their own. The diversity that is shown at these universities is appalling.

Dr Carson shouldn't run, why should a good man subject himself to the political scum that are already working up to slander and lie about him. Not to mention calling him a joke. That's just low... but what can be expected in our current political climate-- on BOTH sides of the aisle. Smear any potential opponent, and the devil take the hindmost. That said, democracy does kinda mean successful people in the "real world" will serve, in spite of the cost (the monetary cost, I mean.) At least, it used to. O! How far we've come from our founding! But, truth, except for a comment he was invited to make-- and the backlash he got for daring to be a black man with "mainstream" values, when he made it-- there's no reason for the Republican Party to dragoon him into the political maelstrom. After all, I am sure there are many political operatives standing by with the media skills to turn a fine neurosurgeon into "a joke." Best to just leave politics to savvy folks, like the Kennedys, Bushes, Gores, Pelosis, et al, who were "born to the purple." After all, they are "our betters." Any outsider, no matter his personal worth, is just "a joke." I mean, why did Ben Carson go into something STOO-PID, like neurosurgery, when he could have gotten himself a law degree? He was probably smart enough to be a lawyer-- even a YALE lawyer, but... neurosurgery? Man, what a joke he is. What a hoot! Fool became a neurosurgeon. How dumb is THAT? What a joke! Man, it's hard to freak out in sufficient euphoria to glee over how much of a joke Dr Ben Carson really is. Seriously ... a brain surgeon? The only thing funnier, and more joke-worthy, would be if he were a rocket scientist. The left MUST caricature Republicans, because it's all they've got. The last president - a fighter pilot with an MBA from Harvard was "a chimp." The last candidate the GOP put forward was a very successful venture capitalist with a JD/MBA from Harvard who was turned into C. Montgomery Burns from "The Simpsons." The guy before that - another fighter pilot who graduated from the US Naval Academy was depicted as crazy. They HAVE to do this and lie about their desire to expand Leviathan into the tiniest minutiae of everyone's lives, because if they were honest about their political goals, and didn't engage in unlimited warfare on the personal front against Republicans, the Democrats would be a joke of a party that completely ceased to exist outside of inner cities and grievance groups on college campuses.

Jimmy Carter was a Naval Academy grad... Bill Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar... "W" actually looked like a chimp... (have you seen the pictures... they're hilarious)... but have you seen the Michelle "chimp pictures"... awesome... and she isn't even President...
Politics is cruel... and those who get into it or even think about getting into in need to understand that...

Dr. Ben Carson is a good man and many people know and respect him. and also the smartest Dr on the planet, but the black community will only slam him as they do now because he won't see things at ghetto level like others do. While Dr Carson no doubt does know his surgery... I don't know that he's been named the smartest doctor on the planet... any more than Hilary was named smartest woman on the planet...

Conservatives frustrated with the direction of the country think Dr. Ben Carson can change the course by winning the 2016 presidential race. Now they just have to convince him. The group, RunBenRun.org, a super PAC, has already raised $4 million toward a Carson bid for the Republican nomination and has collected 200,000 signatures for a petition to get him to join the race. John Philip Sousa IV, the group’s national chairman, said Tuesday that members are working Carson on an almost daily basis, sending along petition-drive updates and hundreds of “clamorings” for him to run, received through letters, Facebook postings and other forms of communication. “I don’t’ like the direction in which the county is going,” said Sousa, the great grandson of the late American composer John Philip Sousa, who wrote such iconic songs as “Stars and Stripes Forever” and “Semper Fidelis,” the official march of the U.S. Marine Corps. “Carson doesn’t whine like some other Republicans. He brings a solution to the table.” www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/04/12/carson-for-president-back-report-4-million-raised-campaign-apparatus-into-place/That would be a great ticket!! Ben Carson would make an excellent president.

Because it was a such a silly silly statement. Ben Carson is an internationally renown brain surgeon. A profession that requires a high degree of intelligence, education, and skill. And he's one of the world's best at it. He's won a Medal of Freedom. www.hopkinschildrens.org/hopkins-surgeon-ben-carson-receives-medal-of-freedom.aspxUnless you live in a cave, this is something you should already know.

Yeah, who would possibly trust a brain surgeon?? They be all like smart and stuff and stick sharp things in your brainzzzz... pffftt! And- yes-- that was ridicule!! Because it was a such a silly silly statement. Ben Carson is an internationally renown brain surgeon. A profession that requires a high degree of intelligence, education, and skill. And he's one of the world's best at it. He's won a Medal of Freedom. www.hopkinschildrens.org/hopkins-surgeon-ben-carson-receives-medal-of-freedom.aspxUnless you live in a cave, this is something you should already know. hard to believe that anyone does not know the world renown background of this great man, and as I stated earlier he's the smartest Dr on the planet, IMHO What makes him the smartest doctor on the planet?
