Oil is meant for burning, most folks find electricity handy. Lol By the way again the Republican view? Pretty much dead on Yep- when you unplug yourself from your local grid, let me know....well, if you're still able to... Not gonna happen, I venture to say the hypocrite is NOT using the Flintstone generator on the computer he's using. Then again he doesn't realize he's also a contributor to greenhouse gasses.

If you like to eat almonds and use tahini to make humus, and enjoy the low cost of oil power for your lamps, give that up, and we'll leave you out of it. Yeah but while I'll make all these sacrifices you're still going to keep sucking down the oil and the cushy lifestyle that leads to. that's not fair So come join the fruits of Empire party, and quitcher bitchin'!!

I'm in for the night, no need for a fire BUT I have half a bottle of vino that we brought back from Gatlinburg. Not really dry (which I hate) and a touch of sweet so Martha Jane Rosé it is! sugarlandcellars.com/wine-shop/

I am and vino isn't usually very high on my list. Beer, scotch, bourbon & water or something like Kahlua rates higher that is if I even feel like something to drink. Years ago while in Greece they had both the Intl Wine & Ouzo festivals going on. I showed em alright...... how to !

Well if we could drill in the ANWAR it would help a lot with not needing mid east oil. The U.S. doesn't import oil from Iran. And believe it or not, last year the United States was a next exporter of oil products for the first time in over six decades. Ah, someone has been paying attention! Yes, in 1939 the US produced 71% of the worlds oil. By the the 1950's we were importing oil! Not because we had to but for various reasons, including tax laws.

Some are already trying to. Some don't want to .

A net exporter? So you want to open up national parks and drill offshore so oil companies can sell it to other countries? What a load of crap. Oil companies are laughing their ass off how they have the right wing as their suckers.
This is wrong folks.

I don't think we should go to war for oil We don't go to war for oil, hugs; we go to war for air-conditioned homes, gas-powered lawn trimmers aircraft vacations to Hawaii and the Bahamas and trucks that get 10 MPH. If the national "we" are ready to give those things up, oil's value falls off quickly.

We have to because we don't produce enough . Anwr will never replace the Middle East. Neither will offshore drilling or opening up all the closed areas. Time to start thinking of the future. Some are already trying to. Some don't want to . Actually, opening up these areas can lead to a sufficient doemstic supply of energy sufficent to replace the ME, at least in terms of energy production. In replacing the ME, more dollars stay within the US and can be used to fund jobs, leading to a stronger US economy and less strategic dependence on those nations with interests that oppose our own. And you're correct that it is tie to begin thinking of the future. Doing so however requires one to recognize that alternative energy is, today, insufficient both in terms of production and cost to replace a carbon based economy. Transitioning to a cleaner energy base will take at least two generations, will require significant research resulting in improvements in alternative energy efficiency, will likely not be found in wind or sun-based energy production. Natural gas can well serve aas the transition to a new energy base, likely finding its roots in fuel cell technology, requiring an efficient means of generating hydrogen, the most common element in the known universe.

I call BULLstuff. If American oil companies have enough oil and gas to sell it to other foreign companies why the F do we need to open up new areas so they can make more profit? that's crazy!
Sorry. I for one and probably majority of Americans do not want to open up our national parks, take risk with drilling offshore, just so oil companies can take the oil and gas and then sell it to foreign countries. That obviously tells you we have enough oil.
